We call this a ‘Bogeye’ where I come from – Shingle-Back Lizard elsewhere, and occasionally ‘Blue Tongued Lizard’
Inspired by the vivid Autumn colours of Mildura – this painting took about a week to complete, and I played around with a bit of time-lapse along the way – reckon it looks ok.
This painting explores the relationship between the Darling and all the surrounding landscape. The background image is the ‘property layer’ for a large swathe of Western NSW, from the dis-tributary streams of the Birrie, Narran, Bokhara and Culgoa through to the point where the Darling intersects with the Murray.

‘Two stories in conversation’ was how this work was described to me, I love that and it succinctly captures up the key theme of the work, a painting of my place – Bourke.
